Country #8: Hungary

You’re probably thinking, a neighboring country! Finally, this travel route is making a bit more sense. We traveled from Prague to Budapest by overnight Flixbus, which was not the most comfortable thing ever but the satisfaction of getting transportation AND lodging for one low price was enough for us. We used points on our IHG card to redeem 4 nights at the Crowne Plaza Budapest. It’s certainly not your Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton but to us, we were living in straight luxury. Especially after that overnight bus ride. Budapest was spent walking all over the city…our step counts were insane. It was, for the first time on our travels, a city that felt oddly homey to us. I say oddly because neither of us had been here or even known much about Budapest before we started planning, but something about the relaxed European vibes and the hustle and bustle (but not too much) of the city, and most importantly the very affordable cost of travel/living there, really made it stick out to us. I’d love to be able to spend a few months there one day! Our favorite activity (spoiler: it was a touristy one) was the all-you-can-drink sunset cruise for $20. Need I say more?
