Country #13: Faroe Islands

This was a very special stop for us! The Faroe Islands are a small patch of islands located between the UK and Iceland, and is one of the most insanely beautiful places I’ve ever seen. It is not a destination for budget travelers however, but I was determined to make it happen one way or another this year. After a few failed attempts, I finally convinced the tourism board to have us in the Faroe Islands for a few days! This was the first time ever working with a tourism board and was both nerve-wracking and exciting. I loved that the islands were all connected, if not by underground tunnel, then by ferry. Many of their hikes were very much low risk, high reward. In other words, the hikes themselves weren’t terribly long or strenuous, but the views were some of the best we’ve seen to date. One of the most exciting things to us (again, it’s the small things that count) was the fact that for the first time in our travels, we were able to stay in the same room for 9 days straight. For once, no packing and unpacking every day, or every 2-3 days.
