Country 14: Turkey

Turkey! This was a bit of a jump from the Faroe Islands, but we wanted to make sure we got to visit during Turkey’s summer season. In the process of flying across the world and back, and then back again, the Priority Pass lounge at the Istanbul airport has become our second home. We used credit card points to book with Turkish Airlines for many of our long-haul flights, and Priority Pass access through the Capital One Venture X card to get lounge access in airports across the world (more on our credit cards here). By flying Turkish, we’ve had our fair share of Istanbul layovers. No complaints though, the Istanbul lounge is one of our favorites.

In Turkey, we decided to split our time pretty evenly between Cappadocia, Antalya, and Istanbul. Of course, there’s never enough time when you’re traveling, but of the 3 spots, we felt like we got a good (although quick) fix of Cappadocia and Istanbul. We wished there was a little more time to visit maybe one or two more coastal towns along the water. The Turkish coast is so underrated!

We’re Claire and Peter. In 2022 we took a corporate gap year to see the world. Three years later…we’re still on the road.
