I have to say, the cost of traveling through Budapest was a pleasant surprise. Meals were cheap, activities were reasonably priced, and there was just so much to see within the city that didn’t require spending any money. Also with that said, we managed to spend more than we probably should have as far as the budget goes, but we did end out our Budapest daily average below $123.
Some notes:
– Food was our most expensive category at $301. Still not bad though…that comes out to $6/meal.
– Our second highest category was lodging at $218. Explained below, we used IHG points in exchange for 4 nights. We then found an Airbnb at $73/night
– Third highest category was activities. Highly recommend doing the Budapest boat tour at sunset with all you can drink prosecco! I think prices have gone slightly up since we went, but it was $41 for the two of us when we went.
– Our most expensive activity was the Gellert Thermal Spa. DON’T be like us and forget a towel because then you get to buy a really expensive one.
– We used 72,000 IHG credit card points in exchange for a 4-night stay at the Crowne Plaza Budapest
